1. Long ago on the 6th of December 1492 Columbus discovered Haiti. In 1697 the French ruled Haiti. Haiti became one of the biggest sugar producing country. The Haitians worked as slaves at the sugar cane plantations.

I never new Columbus found Haiti! It is nice to know so much about Haiti now!

#3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are all true, Nadia, but they are not historical reasons Haitians live in poverty today. Again, what you are saying is true, but not exactly what we are looking for in this assignment.
