Kate DiCamillo

Kate DiCamillo is a great author. I think her writing is creative and I like it and it helped me understand the story. Her first book was "Because of Winn-Dixie". Kate DiCamillo worked in a small warehouse, where she once met with someone who worked for a publisher company named "Candlewick Press" and she submitted the draft of "Because of Winn-Dixie". And after that the book became popular and in 2005 the book was released as a film by "20th Century Fox". After that she became a very busy and famous author. She started writing when she was 30 years old because her hobby is reading and her goal is to write 2 pages a day.

Did you know that she got the idea of writing "Because of Winn-Dixie" because she felt homesick of Florida and she missed her dog very much, that inspired her to write. When she published "Because of Winn-Dixie" alot of interviews from local Newspaper to make her article.

Because of Winn-Dixie

****

India Opal Buloni is an ordinary kid. She has a dog named Winn-Dixie, she found that dog in the Winn-Dixie grocery store. Her dad is a preacher and her mom left her and her dad when she was just three years old. When Opal moved to Naomi because of Winn-Dixie she met alot of new friends. She met Miss Franny Block. Miss Franny Block is an librarian in the Herman W. Block Memorial Library. And she also met Otis. Otis works at the Gertude's Pets he is really talented in music. Opal also met Sweety Pie Thomas, she is a five year old girl and she invited Opal for her Sixth birthday. There are these two boys that Opal does not like they are Stevie and Dunlamp Dewberry they are really anoying and mean to Opal. Opal met Gloria Dump in the forest. First the Dewberry boys said that there is a witch in that forest but Opal did not belive them and when she met Gloria Dump she is actually a really nice lady and Opal became close friends with her. She also met Amanda. Amanda is actually a normal girl but Opal met her in the Library. Towards the end, Opal borrowed a book from the Herman W. Block Memorial Library. The book is called "Gone With The Wind" the book is about the Civil War Miss Franny Block's Great grandfather is actually a famous candy maker. He was an orphan and he was sad and he wanted to have something sweet and he invented candy that you eat and you feel sweetness and sadness in the same time the candy is called Littmus Lozenge and Opal borrowed that book to read it out loud to Gloria Dump. When Opal read that book to Gloria Dump, she had and Idea to make a party and she invited Otis, The preacher, Miss Franny Block, The Dewberry Boys, Sweety Pie and Amanda. They had a normal fine Party, then it started to rain and every body went in and she forgot Winn-Dixie. She looked outside with the preacher and she went out to search and she can't find Winn-Dixie anywhere. When she came back to Gloria Dump's house, everybody was smiling they were happy and Opal was wondering why are they happy if Winn-Dixie was missing, and she told Gloria Dump that she can't find Winn-Dixie. Gloria Dump said that you can't find Winn-Dixie because he was right here all the time. And the party continued and every thing was just fine.

I give "Because of Winn-Dixie" a four star book and I like this book and it is really good.

Typhoon Morakot

This picture is the typhoon Morakot and the houses are ruined because of that typhoon. And I think it happened because it started from the mountains and it rained so much and the land soaked the water and it became slippery and the land started to slide down. It killed a lot of people and it also ruined their houses like the picture shown here. It also knocked down some buildings and some of them also floated. Because Taiwan is really close to the equator like Japan. Japan got the Morakot because it's close to the equator like these places might get the Morakot Korea, Philippine, Taiwan and Japan. So to protect our country each individual should take a good care of our enviroment by growing some trees.
